  • Online training or seminars for Apple stuff

Did you know that Apple has these free online lessons? Might find something of interest to you. Not an exhaustive list, but it's all free. If you want to go more into depth, I can personally vouch for Lynda.com training. All you need is a good connection and QuickTime (and $25/month). You can cancel at any time, so it's also good for if you just want an intensive course in a particular software for a project you're working on.

Online training, learn about Leopard, switching, Bento

Lynda.com is, in my opinion, one of the top-level online learning shops out there.

    Zombies in Plain English

In time for Hallowe'en....For our very good friend and former BoiseMacs co-President, Steven R., whom we've not seen in a bit. Hoping the zombies didn't finally get to you (!!!)

    Good podcasts for Mac users

Apple puts out a weekly podcast which you can either watch-on-page or subscribe to (my preference) by clicking the Subscribe button on the side of the page. I wish they put their Apple Pro Tips out as video podcasts because then I'd remember to actually view them. And don't miss this (click the little Quicktime icon to download) podcast on things you might not have realized you cou

What if that podcast isn't in video iPod format?

The RookieDesigner (who has a great designer podcast, Quicktips) pointed out that it's as easy as dragging the podcast to iTunes (if it isn't already in there), going to the Movies library, and right clicking: convertforipod.jpg If you have AppleTV, that's just the next option down, as you can see. -Cheryl

    Apple Seminars Online

Apple produces quite a number of online seminars (free) and it's easy to subscribe to the occasional announcement of what's upcoming. QuickTime 7 (the latest version, as of this writing), and a broadband connection are recommended. Here's the latest:

ScreencastsOnline - free tutorial videos for Mac users

Well, I just got finished watching a short video extra from ScreencastsOnline that I received as a subscriber: a peek at a floor-view of Macworld 2007. What a kick! That iPhone looks great - and I don't even like cell phones! If you don't know about ScreencastsOnline, I'd highly recommend you check it out. Here is a quick overview including free low-resolution views of shows. The subscription gives you access to higher resolution screencasts, and some extra material (extended versions of screencasts).

    visual overload

Does your Mac monitor look like mine after you've been working and/or playing for more than 10 minutes? Zillion apps and windows open. Dock. Menu. Desktop. Aaaaaah! If so, you should watch this MacBreak podcast (#33) on "The Distracted Mac". You are subscribing to Mac podcasts, aren't you? So so easy with iTunes.

    Windows on Mac perfected?

This article gives a step-by-step, using the $79 Parallels. Quite interesting! Added 24 Dec: Don has a video with Parallels and Boot Camp and the whole thing.
