Imports to iTunes leave out information?

Is your iTunes a mess? Imports not carry song or artist info and a list view have more gaps and holes than swiss cheese? This application (which I've not yet tried) may help bring order to your iTunes plagued with partial song information. If anyone gives it a try, please do report your experience in the comments.

Wake up, thou iMac!

Need to run AppleScripts at odd times or like iTunes to be your wake-up device? You might want to look at iBeeZz to "simply schedule your Mac": set up when your Mac sleeps, wakes up, shuts down, starts up, restarts, (well, you get the idea). Looks pretty great!

Much-appreciated forward from our friend in the northern environs (ie: McCall): Listing with links and details of those applications that work with the next version of Mac OS X, Snow Leopard, which releases...today!

Free Mac stuff and a bit of an info dump

I came across a cache of links I'd saved for follow-up and so, with my new de-cluttering regime, I share them here on the BoiseMacs weblog instead of hoarding them and letting digital dust accumulate. Some humor (old but still good): the Apple Product Cycle For if you're in a video/movie-watching mood: How to download YouTube videos with Safari -- How to connect your laptop to

New Mac site and stress-release software

Two items recently crossed my desk: UsingMac is a site that was mentioned on the mailing list. There's an RSS feed to get updates by newsreader or in Safari (whatever you have set up). Looks like some handy, practical information and lots of good Mac tips. This company wrote the group to announce their Mac stress-reducing software which works in a sort of biofeedback mode from what I can see. Interesting.

Mac software for common tasks

In looking for software to make a screenshot of an entire web page (even what's "below the scroll") I came across these folks at TastyApps. I've not yet used their software but it looks like some good Mac stuff for common tasks like capturing audio or video online, coding your Mail, etc.

What are BoiseMacs' favorite free Mac apps?

We received a post to the list with LifeHacker's list of favorite free Mac applications. They include: Smultron, Quicksilver, Firefox, Adium, Postbox, Unarchiver, Transmission, AppTrap, Burn, VLC, iTunes, Dropbox and Mozy. (See article for links.) I've often thought it would be a fun meeting topic to have a member share their favorite free (or shareware*) softwares.

Mac site to follow: AppStorm

Alerted by a tweet I read a post at AppStorm and realized that this is a great Mac site - focusing on applications and programs for your Mac and iPhone.

Adobe (PDF) Reader issues

Thanks to Mark on the list for the heads up: there are critical vulnerabilities in Adobe's Acrobat Reader. It's suggested that you (a) disable Javascript in preferences and/or (b) use a different reader. Of course, Apple Preview (which comes with the basic software) has been able to read PDFs. It's what's the default PDF reader on my Macs because I find the Acrobat Reader to be "heavy" (though I do have the software).
