iPhone overload

Humorous iPhone spoof. (caution: brief rude language)

Extract the sound from a downloaded YouTube video

MacTips chimes in with an easy way to extract sound from a video.
In Save a YouTube video I explained one way to download a YouTube video. Others kindly chimed in with comments explaining alternatives. Once you have a video on your computer though, you may find you'd like to take just the sound and add it to iTunes.

Small Dog is a great resource for Mac stuff

I was going through papers on my desk and came across this business card which had been included in my last order.

These guys are great. They don't have a mega-warehouse but they have great service and solid products. I've purchased from them for years: peripherals, software. Excellent tracking of your shipment. Always want to know if you have any complaints or problems. Their refurb stuff is solid.

Mac site to follow: AppStorm

Alerted by a tweet I read a post at AppStorm and realized that this is a great Mac site - focusing on applications and programs for your Mac and iPhone.

Adobe (PDF) Reader issues

Thanks to Mark on the list for the heads up: there are critical vulnerabilities in Adobe's Acrobat Reader. It's suggested that you (a) disable Javascript in preferences and/or (b) use a different reader. Of course, Apple Preview (which comes with the basic software) has been able to read PDFs. It's what's the default PDF reader on my Macs because I find the Acrobat Reader to be "heavy" (though I do have the software).

My experience with MacLife in Boise

Let me start off by saying that your experience may vary. You might have wonderful service. I did not -- and it was so outside the realm of what I'd expect from a company who's taken the step to branch out to a second store that I felt I had to share it with our local MUG. Following our great April meeting on the 8th (thanks again, Mark, for the great maintenance tips) I toodled to the newly-opened downtown Boise MacLife (on 8th and ..erm.. is that Myrtle?), thinking I'd be a good do-bee and patronize a local business instead of ordering from Amazon or some online Mac store.

Templates for Pages (including Avery)

Just looking around for a way to use my Avery 5160 labels and in googling found this iWork Community sharing site which had just what I needed. Looks like all sorts of templates for Apple Pages use.

iPhone app mania

There could be quite a living to be made in creating apps for the iPhone. What are your favorites?

Browsing these Mac utilities...

Looking at several free or inexpensive Mac softwares from the Many Tricks people. I'd originally wandered over to look at Desktop Curtain (hide your desktop clutter for screenshots, tutorials, etc.) but the Witch (cycle through windows) and yFlicks (manage and view your movies) and Name Mangler (batch file renamer), among others, look very interesting as well.
