From Mactips.info comes this video tutorial explaining how to take an existing “Service” and change it a bit to suit your own preferences.
Thanks to Ron for this, via the list…

The excellent ScreenCastsOnline (to which I subscribe) is this week offering a hefty (that is, substantial) video podcast covering a lot of ground that would be very useful for new Mac users, whether they be recent switchers or folks who just haven’t had a chance to dig around in all that the Mac offers as yet.
Don always has a useful broadcast (it’s one of my few “must watch” video podcasts) so take a peek at this free show and if you like it, consider subscribing to the SCO-members-only shows.
If you’re worried that iCal’s little alert will get missed while you’re working on something else, if it’s really a critical task that has to happen right at a certain time, check out this brief YouTube video tip from Mac Tips on setting an unmissable iCal task reminder.
Thanks to Lauren for most of the notes:
As most of you know, last night was the first official meeting with our new presidents.
JT presided over this meeting, and I would like to be the first to say “Thank You”. I thought it was a very good meeting.
To begin with, we went around the room and introduced ourselves and made a choice of which application that we thought we couldn’t live without.
There was a bit of variety, but the one app most mentioned was iTunes.
Tim and Stephanie from “fins-up” joined us again and provided one more of their “All-In-One Handle Stand” to be raffled off to all in attendance.
The reminder of the evening was spent watching a video provided by JT about Macs and Mac Users Groups from the early years up to fairly recent times. It was both informative and entertaining.
Once again, a big round of applause to JT for the first meeting of his co presidency. Everyone should look for some positive and beneficial changes to come in our club.
JT adds:
We talked about setting up a Facebook Page and Twitter account for the group. It was decided that many of the members would like to know a little more about the two, thus in January we will focus on the two social media giants. I mentioned that I would like to seek out companies that would provide our group discounts on products by mentioning them in our group, the group liked the idea.
Is your iTunes a mess? Imports not carry song or artist info and a list view have more gaps and holes than swiss cheese? This application (which I’ve not yet tried) may help bring order to your iTunes plagued with partial song information.
If anyone gives it a try, please do report your experience in the comments.
Spotted this past week, this list of 50 very interesting free and for-sale iPhone apps for web designers and developers. Have perused several times.
Also, over at the Register, a reminder that some apps can come as wolves in sheep’s clothing, so always purchase responsibly and after researching.
On both Twitter and our mailing list there’s mention of Apple’s purchase of LaLa, most recently a music sharing in-the-cloud (internet only) service. Here’s a NYT article detailing the high points.
I remember just a few years back when LaLa was a sort of kludgy (to my mind) way to pass along physical CDs you were tired of. It was a fine idea (for example, I love the book sharing service, BookMooch), but it seems there were a few too many rules or protocols to make it a smooth transaction.
Knowing how popular some music online sites are, I think it will prove very interesting to see what Apple’s going to do next.
