How do I set up so I can use iChat?
As you'll have noticed, for December's meeting you have the option of staying safe and warm at home and using your iChat connection to connect with fellow members.
iChat is a great software that has been available with Macs for a while and the newest version in Leopard is the best yet.
If you've not used iChat, you will need an "iChat name." There are two paths to take, depending upon whether you have an Apple Me (formerly, .Mac) account or not. (Full instructions. But please read the rest of this post first.)
You do not have to buy Apple Me to use iChat. If you don't have Apple Me, you just need to sign up and get an "AIM" (AOL Instant Message) account. Whatever you do, do NOT download the software. Check out the screenshot.
If you're experienced with iChat, please consider attending the meeting tonight via online so you can help folks that are new to it all. iChat is a great way to stay in touch with friends and family -- especially relevant this time of year!
